The first set of pictures were taken at the Safe Kids' Free Car Seat Check activity. As an observer, I was surprised to see how secure a car seat could really be when installed correctly. I watched a staff member walk a customer through the process and witnessed the customer rocking her car by grasping and shaking the car seat. That was incredible. At the end of the activity, the group assembled for an assessment and to wish each other well in future endeavors.
The second set of pictures were taken at two separate events sponsored by the Columbus Family Connection organization, stationed in Columbus, Georgia. Representatives from several government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private businesses gathered to share a vision of collaboration to assess and improve systemic issues affecting our youth.
The third set of pictures were taken at Safe Kids' Free Helmet Give-a-Way on December 20, 2010 at Gateway Walmart. The response from the media and other methods of communication was great! According to Ms. Christy Hubbard (Director of Safe Kids), the staff and volunteers distributed 695 helmets and educated about 1400 people. There were 60 volunteers involved in the success of this event. As you can see by the pictures, people were wrapped around the parking area where the event was located. The children were excited and the adults enjoyed the music provided by Columbus Forward. Country Barbecue provided hot chocolate for the children. Christy stated, "The event has truly inspired me. I loved seeing all the volunteers giving their time, parents who care, and children with smiles. Thank you all for making this possible. We are one step closer preventing accidental injury and death among children 14 and younger."
