Safe Kids Annual Helmet Giveaway at Walmart (6475 Gateway Road, Columbus, Georgia), Monday, December 20, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

     Columbus Forward initiated the "Community Bike Race" to give children from Columbus, Fort Benning and Phenix City a new activity to enjoy.  The activity begins 4:00 PM every Sunday (from Spring to Fall) at Lake Bottom Park (near the running track) in Columbus, Georgia. 

     I want to publicly thank Ms. Christy Hubbard, Director of Safe Kids of Columbus, for joining this endeavor by providing safety helmets for new participants.

     The following racers participated in the bike race on October 24th and received free safety helmets: Tony Kinard, Jehmiah Parker, Olivia Friedland, Quinteria Graves, Abigale Garcia, Jose Alcantar, Daniel Gonzales, and Shayla Mooney. (Please forgive me if I misspelled any names)

October 24, 2010     The first place winners are Shayla Mooney (6), Olivia Friedland (7), Quinteria Graves (8), Tony Kinard (9), and Jose Alcantar (11).     The second place racers are Jehmiah Parker (6) and Daniel Gonzales.  The third place racer is Abigale Garcia (6).October 24, 2010

      The staff, parents, and guardians did a great job supporting the racers.  Safety helmets are required for this activity.  Parents must sign the "Release and Eligibility Form."  Please bring the form with you to the event.

      Participants may use their personal bikes are one provided by Columbus Forward.  Bikes, with gears, will race at a standard gear equal to a bike with no gears.
